The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is a nonprofit organization of active joist manufacturers, organizations, and companies connected to the industry that was established in 1928 to maintain the standards for steel joist construction. The SJI provides educational opportunities for construction professionals utilizing a library of printed publications and both live and recorded webinars.

Since 1939, the Steel Deck Institute has provided uniform industry standards for the engineering, design, manufacture, and field usage of steel decks. The SDI is concerned with cold-formed steel products used to support finished roofing materials or to serve as a permanent form and/or positive reinforcement for concrete floor slabs.
